Chronological Bible reading plan

Read the whole Bible in one year in the order events happened. All 1,189 chapters, each exactly once, over 365 days — about three to four chapters a day.

How the year is ordered

  1. 1. Creation and the patriarchs

Genesis, with Job read alongside the age of Abraham.

  2. 2. Exodus and the wilderness

    Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.

  3. 3. Conquest and judges

    Joshua, Judges and Ruth.

  4. 4. Kings and psalms

Samuel, Kings and Chronicles, with David's psalms and Solomon's wisdom placed beside their lives.

  5. 5. Prophets and exile

The prophets read with the kings they spoke to, then exile and return.

  6. 6. Jesus and the early church

The Gospels, Acts, and the letters placed among Paul's journeys, ending with Revelation.

Good for new readers

Reading in order turns the Bible into one connected story. Ledger shows each day's chapters, lets you check them off, and forgives one missed day each week so falling behind doesn't mean starting over.
